Meet the Team

The research and development team is a brand-new division within BioSense. Created in 2025 and currently composed of 2 teams of 15 students, our teams are motivated to develop new scientific tools by combining different disciplines such as electronics, chemistry, and physics.

Our goal is to deepen our knowledge in those fields in order to bring a new dynamic to the association.

Incoming Projects

Digital Microfluidics

R&D Team

Our current objective is to build our own Digital Microfluidic (DMF) device — a technology that consists of manipulating microdroplets using electrodes.

To make this achievable, we are currently exploring new approaches to DMF, such as:

  • Displacing droplets with a mechanical arm
  • Visualizing their motion on a screen

For now our team is still researching the possibilities, future applications, and learning more about the electronics parts involved.

We are exploring approaches to non-invasive endometriosis diagnostics. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women worldwide, yet diagnosis still takes an average of 8 years and requires invasive procedures.

Our team came together through shared personal experiences with endometriosis, whether directly or through people close to us, and a desire to contribute to a field that remains significantly underresearched and underserved. Over the past few months, our team has made great strides in solidifying our understanding of endometriosis biology, diagnostic workflows, and potential biomarkers. After extensive research, we have honed in on proteins/miRNA signatures in menstrual blood or saliva as promising directions.

We are now looking to connect with researchers, professors, clinicians, and industry partners interested in women’s health, diagnostics, and biomedical innovation to help support the next stage of the project.
